Edward Cooper I am the current Chair of Governors. |
Andrew Brooks I am proud to be the Headteacher of this fantastic school. Since joining the school in 2018, we have modernised our facilities and resources, creating an environment in which every child and member of staff can flourish. I am the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Health & Safety Officer. Being a small school, I am fortuante to also have a teaching commitment. I am passionate about the curriculum and providing the best opportunities for all of our children and that’s why we’re constantly striving to move our curriculum on. Through our whole-school vision of 'With Grace and Love, We Dream & Achieve', our Governing Body and school team will ensure that every child receives the best education. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, coaching both my boys' football teams and going on holidays. |
Mark Paisley I am a farmer working on our family farm. After leaving Wiggonby Schooll, I attended Nelson Thomlinson School. I then attended Newton Rigg College for 5 years and gained a HND in Dairy Farm Management. Foot & Mouth interrupted my higher education, but I did return to complete my exams. I had a happy time at Wiggonby School and I received excellent support in helping me cope with dyslexia. My children now attend the school and I decided to become a governor to give something back to the school. Wiggonby School helped make me the person I am today. |
Claire Notman I am a mum of two and I have been a governor at Wiggonby School since Autumn 2021. I became involved with the governing body as I am passionate about supporting the school to deliver excellent education and pastoral care and for the school and all pupils to thrive. |
Julie Bragg I am a foundation governor with responsibilities for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Safeguarding. I moved to the local area in 1990 and my children attended Wiggonby School, so I have a long-standing connection with the school.
It was in 2001, around the time my children were attending the school, I was asked to join the governing body nominated by the Margaret Hodgson Trust. The Trust contributes to the school budget to help provide the children with additional experiences and learning opportunities. Every pupil receives a bible and a prize on sports day, kindly donated by the Trust. I also work part-time as a teaching assistant in Class 2, and I am passionate about helping Wiggonby promote a love of learning for all pupils in school. Outside of school I enjoy walking, gardening and going on holiday. |
Rachel Hewson I am a parent governor, with one child attending Wiggonby, and another who has been through the school and now at Nelson Thomlinson. My children are at least the 5th generation of Hewsons to attend the school, so I was delighted to become a governor and be able to assist the school in a variety of ways. This includes monitoring the Arts, Design and Technology lessons and the role of designated Safeguarding governor.
I work part-time as a veterinary nurse and enjoy sewing and spending time with my family and two guinea pigs! |
Cherry Walsh I am a teacher and parent at Wiggonby. I was born and raised in Cumbria, but moved away to attend University, and taught at schools in Cambridgeshire and Warwickshire before moving back to Cumbria with my husband and children in 2016. My strengths are in Science and English, although I am also very enthusiastic about teaching and learning in History, Geography, Art and French. Bringing over 20 years of teaching experience in Key Stages 1 and 2, I am able to bring an in-depth knowledge of the curriculum to the Governing Body. I am keen to support the development of the school and to give every child the knowledge, skills and love of learning that they need at secondary school and beyond. My hobbies include family walks, cooking and art. |
Val Gillespie I am the outgoing Chair of Governors at Wiggonby School, and have remained on the board of governors. I enjoy being a Governor as it helps me to retain my interest in education. I like spending time with my grandchildren, gardening, cooking and reading. |
