A letter from the Headteacher
Dear Parents,
Wiggonby C of E Primary School continues to be a GOOD school.
The Ofsted inspectors were impressed with our pupils, stating that they are excellent ambassadors for the school and that pupils are well prepared for each stage of their education.
The school cares deeply about pupils' mental health and wellbeing and pupils know how to look after their own physical and mental health.
The school has designed an ambitious suite of curriculums and pupils, including children in the early years, respond well to the high expectations that the school has of their achievement. The inspectors also recognised that in the early years, children make a strong start to their education. Additionally, our school accurately identifies the needs of pupils with SEND.
Our staff have strong subject knowledge, which obviously benefits our pupils massively. Pupils' knowledge is secure before they move on to new learning, and in lessons, pupils have highly positive attitudes to their learning.
Inspectors could clearly see that reading is prioritised across the school, which has a precise understanding of pupils' individual reading skills and that staff deliver the phonics programme effectively.
We are a caring school where the children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural understanding is developed well through the school's faith characteristics. Pupils talk with confidence about human rights and justice. Pupils understand the importance of caring for the planet. Our older children look after, encourage and support the younger children, which enables them to settle happily at school. Our school provides pupils with memorable experiences that support their personal development.
Our staff are proud to work at the school and our governing body carries out its duties effectively.
The school has a strong safeguarding culture and the arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Our parents say that their children are happy, safe and cared for.
I am sure you will agree that this latest report reflects what a good school we have. I would like to thank the children for all the fantastic things they do everyday; the staff for their hard work and dedication to our school; the governors for their unwavering support and desire to make Wiggonby C of E Primary School a thriving environment where children grow spiritually and morally, encapsulating our ethos of 'With Grace and Love, we Dream and Achieve'.
And finally, I would like to thank you, the parents, for the support and trust you place in our school. It is very much appreciated.
